For this card I have used an 8 x 8 card base. To make it into the easel card you need to fold one side of the card in half. For the base I have used red card to matt & layer, followed by white card that I have printed out with the fizzy moon character on it from my Serif craft artist program. I then matted & layered the “I love you” and used foam pads to raise it up. I stuck this to the base of my card.

To make the top part of the card you need to cut a piece of card stock 8 x 8 then stick this to the outside half fold on the card. Your card will then stand up. I use the same matching fizzy moon card that I had printed off to do the next layer.
To frame my cross stitch I used one of my Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles (LG) S4-114 with the largest die from Spellbinders Nestabilities/Majestic Elements Marvelous Squares S4-383. This made a frame for my cross stitch. I stuck my cross stitch to the frame.

I then cut four corners from Creative Expressions Craft Dies By Sue Wilson Corners Border & Tag Dies Californian Collection CED1102 in red card. I glue two of them to the back of my framed cross stitch. The other two corners I used foam pads on the back to raise them and placed them in opposite corners. I use foam pads on the cross stitch frame and placed this in the middle of the card.

I used a piece of white tulle under my flowers. I used the Creative Expressions Craft Dies By Sue Wilson Classic Rose Dies Finishing Touches Collection CED1407 to create the rose’s on my card. I used my acrylic glue on the rose and covered it with iced snow glitter jewels. I then glue them to my card. I added a bow made from the Creative Expressions Craft Dies By Sue Wilson 3D Classic Itty Bitty Bows CED1408 in the corner of the card. I added some pearl hearts from my stash to the “I love you” in the corners.

How To Use Your Spellbinders Metal Shim Tutorial.

Hi Crafter’s,

Have you ever had a die that doesn’t cut all over no mater what you try or how many bits of card shims you stick in?

Well the other day I was told about metal shims by a fellow crafter. So I looked into finding some.

Spellbinders do a metal shim for the grand calibur so I ordered some in for my shop.

I got straight to work to see how well it worked and I was very impressed.

So the first thing you need to know is the sandwich layers.

For the Grand Calibur only;

1, A. Base Plate

2, Metal Shim

3, Paper, felt or fabric

4, (For detail dies on paper) wax paper

5, Die ridges face down

6, B. Embossing Plate

Then cut, if you are using paper or card take out the metal shim then use the tan rubber mat in the normal sandwich to emboss.

The next image is using a die cut that I have had the most problems with and it cut it in two passes.

Dies used on felt and fabrics, cotton, cotton fur and towelling.

Flowers made up.

Felt flowers, Sue Wilson Die CED1407 Classic Rose.

Felt flowers, Spellbinders S4-357 Spiral Blossom Three Die.

Felt flowers, Spellbinders S5-086 Bitty Blossoms Die.

Felt flowers, Spellbinders S5-086 Bitty Blossoms Die.

Felt flowers, Sue Wilson Delicate Daisies Complete Petals CED1417 Die.

In my opinion the Spellbinders Metal Shim makes cutting detailed dies so much easier, and cutting felt and fabrics a breeze.

The Spellbinders Metal Shim is now in stock at Louloupurple in Dolgellau. Due to the weight of this plate we have not got it listed on the website, but if you are happy to pay for the extra weight in postage then please email us at info@louloupurple.co.uk
